Mudvayne's Chad Gray - L.D. 50

Mudvayne's Chad Gray - L.D. 50

i paid 10 bucks for potentially the best metal tour of the fall. thank you craigslist!

ill just start out by saying the surprise of the evening was snot. i was very skeptical, i love their record to pieces and just couldnt imagine the songs without lynn strait. i admit, i was wrong. the old singer from divine heresy went out there and rocked that shit. tons of energy, great stage presence. he really did the songs justice. i told him so too after their set, he remarked that he was a fan in the audience when he was 16 and he just can’t believe that he now gets to go up there and sing the songs. also, the drummer….. whoah. badass. very shannon larken-esque. really sick drummer. the best part for me though was seeing sonny mayo again up on stage. i loved the dude in sevendust but its better for all parties in this situation: 7dust gets Clint back and Snot gets back together. after their set the guys were at the merch booth just talking to fans. go take advantage of this because:

10 years fucking sucks. im sorry, ive now seen them 3 times and they just dont bring anything live. nothing. they’re so goddam boring. its frustrating b/c i seriously love a handful of their songs, off both records. i kept walking into the room to watch them for a song or two, than walk right back out to the merch area for beer and to hang with snot. 10 years just doesn’t add anything to this tour.

MuDvayNe. good god. so great. they play in front of a giant, fire red backdrop with the new mudvayne logos and these red lights in front of them. the band comes out, not dressed up really in anything. but than chad grey appears and its just a sight to see. he was wearing, and im not shitting you, a big puffy, furry one-piece gorilla suit. fire red. he’s rocking a straight mohawk now. mohawk color: fire red. i wish i had a picture to show you.

the band kicked off with Not Falling, than right into Silenced, than -1, than Death Blooms. the crowd went apeshit, which was refreshing b/c LA crowds are typically lame. moshpits everywhere. the band reached way back into the catalouge and whipped out Nothing to Gein and Cradle. Happy? got a huge reaction. World So Cold was good. Closed out with Dig, of course.

honestly, chad grey is one of the greatest frontmen in metal. as long as its not an amphitheatre or arena where his voice can’t carry well, you are guaranteed to see a sick show.

i HIGHLY recommend going when the tour comes to roseland ballroom next month. get there early for Snot. you will absolutely get your moneys worth.

saw rita haney (dimebag darrels girlfriend) for the second time now in person. first time was irving plaza for hellyeah. still rocks the Getcha Pull cowboy hat. she was with one of panteras old crew members (who had a memorial tattoo with Getcha Pull inked on his arm). always a sad reminder but im glad she’s out in public going to shows and whatnot. also, her huge cans were just busting out of her exposed bra. crazyness.

**Here is a YouTube clip from the show. The sound is decent, and his furry red suit is awesome. The song is called “Dig,” and if you have no idea what he’s saying, don’t worry, because no one else does either.**

L.D.50 was the best Nu Metal album to come. Mu Dv Ay Ne is trulely an inspiring band for the fans of the genre and have inspired me to follow my dreams to become a singer in a Nu Metal band.
