DC of Eye Empire Interview

Eye Empire is a new collective featuring Donald Carpenter, aka DC (ex- SubmerseD) on vocals, Corey Lowery (ex- Stereomud/Dark New Day) on bass, BC Kochmit (ex- Sw1tched), and Will Hunt (ex- Evanescence/Dark New Day). The members of this band have a lot of experience in the business and have created a fantastic piece of work, titled Moment of Impact.

Because of the obvious Sevendust connections at hand here, I’ve been following this group for quite some time and was really excited to get my hands on the record. I’m always pumped to hear new music but particularly when I have high hopes from those creating it. Sevendust drummer and former guest Morgan Rose played on this record while lead singer LaJon Witherspoon and guitarist Clint Lowery (Corey’s brother) have a couple of vocal spots as well.

But most importantly, the band members in Eye Empire are all accomplished musicians of whom I have great admiration. I’ve always enjoyed SubmerseD, primarily because of DC’s vocals. Satellite and terrestrial radio are still playing SubmerseD songs every single day. Corey and BC both played in bands that I liked and Will Hunt is just a beast on the drums. The great Zakk Wylde thought highly enough of Will Hunt to have him fill in on a recent Black Label tour.

Moment of Impact lives up to expectations. It’s a complete DIY effort by Eye Empire so you likely won’t find it in stores. Buy the record from the band’s website and they’ll ship an autographed copy to you themselves. In the 2nd pressing of the album, they featured photos of Eye Empire fans in the CD booklet. It is a nice personal touch from the band that you got to love.

DC was on our show last night and it was a great discussion. We learned a lot about everything Eye Empire and how they are going the extra mile for their fans during a difficult time for unsigned hard rock artists. We coined this show “customer service.” Tune in and find out why.

DC mentioned that there are about 200 copies of Moment of Impact left on the band’s website. These are signed and numbered, making it a very cool collectible. I have a copy and will vouch for the record; it’s a sharp looking band photo underneath the jewel case with all 4 signatures. After those sell, they’ll be able to move forward to the next step and ready a widespread release. 100% of the proceeds from these sales goes right back into Eye Empire.

Go to Eye Empire’s website and check it out. Support the band by purchasing one of these limited edition copies. We need to support good bands and good music wherever and whenever we can. This is a prime example of that. Eye Empire…. Check ‘em out.

He doesn’t talk over him but it seems he cuts him off when he tries to have a general conversation. It happens quite a bit.

The wheel can’t be reinvented that much but this is good for what it is even if I’ve mellowed out over the years.

    I never heard of Submersed,

It’s Andrew that actually cuts him off if you listen.

I would have liked to learn more about DC as a person rather than focusing on the music because no one really knows who these guys are yet. It was a boring listen unfortunately.

Andrew seems to always go for the entertainment aspect and Darius seems to go for the reporting aspect. Two different personalities that compliment each other but in this case and one other interview it didn’t work.

When did Will Hunt because the world’s greatest drummer? He’s in Staind now touring with them but might not be permanent.
