Chris Wyse of Owl and The Cult Interview

The Right Thing, the second full-length Owl album will be released on April 9th, 2013. This record truly lives in the moment. It’s very primal, organic, competent rock music played with conviction. The Right Thing opens with a cover of The Kinks track “Destroyer.” An album opening with a cover – daring and unconventional, to say the least. As far as I’m concerned, this is rock and roll, the way it should be – not an overthought collection of songs that all sound identical.

Jacob Bunton of Adler Interview

“I like being surprised. I also don’t like knowing the path an interview will travel. That journey makes for a more enjoyable, spontaneous listening experience. Color me impressed with Jacob Bunton. The man is articulate, genuinely optimistic and passionate about music, and… let’s put it like this – he’s the type of guy you could sit and talk music with for days. Back From the Dead, the debut album from Adler is a truly enjoyable listening experience.”

Jacob Bannon of Converge – Rungs in a Ladder Documentary Review

Take 12 minutes of your life and watch this video. A listener sent this over to me with a link to the video and a short note that said: WATCH THIS. You don’t have to be a fan of Converge, or Jacob Bannon, or heavy music to understand the message. Extremely well done.

Buried Treasures: ALF, The Verve Pipe, Soul Asylum, God Forbid

“I listened to the latest All The Remains album. I cannot believe this is the same band that released This Darkened Heart and The Fall of Ideals. The under 18 crowd must rejoice. If you no longer bring a lunchbox to school, it’s time to move on. All That Remains 2012 isn’t for you. This buried treasure is a lunchbox. I brought this with me to school during my early grade school days. ALF, at that time, was king.”

What would the lineup be of your version of the Summerland Tour?

Now is your chance to play the role of promoter, because I absolutely love reading this stuff. Summerland 2012 was nostalgic. If you were promoting 2013, which five bands would be on the bill? Let the debate begin!

Love and Death (featuring Brian “Head” Welch – formerly of Korn) Interview and Live Show Review from The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY

“One thing I picked up on didn’t happen on the stage. It happened at merch. I’ve seen thousands of merch tables in my day. Very rarely have I seen what I’m about to tell you. During RED’s set, Welch made his way to the Love and Death table. I saw countless groups of fans go from banging their heads to running – literally – to Love and Death’s merch table. Mid-set. Mid-song. Amazing stuff. This dude is a star. Period. When you’re a star, that’s how people react.”

Interview with Dan Chandler of Evans Blue

Graveyard of Empires is an impressive album. The songs are heavy enough to rock out, but also soft enough to put you into a groove for its duration. They’re well-constructed, well-written, and well executed. Evans Blue vocalist Dan Chandler was a great interview. Check them out now.

Buried Treasures: Paw – Death to Traitors

“The first album ever to “speak to me” was Death to Traitors by Paw. I was in my early teens at the time, doing the Nirvana thing, the Weezer Blue Album thing, the Siamese Dream thing, etc.” Click through to read the article!

Interview with POD Frontman Sonny Sandoval

“I was flying solo when Sonny Sandoval came on the show. My morning was grueling. He was in the midst of doing a plethora of boring, formulaic interviews. So, to amuse ourselves, we talked about Bad Brains, the hood, and fake peeps.”
