Eve 6: Jon, Max, Tony

My first experience with Eve 6 was in my late teens. “Inside Out” was all over the radio. I remember being at a hotel in Ocean City, MD repeating “Rendezvous then I’m through with you” in this obnoxious, monotone voice as I walked around the room. The self-titled debut was then acquired, and the journey with Eve 6 began.

Founding member Jon Siebels is their guitar player. The band went on hiatus in 2004, with Siebels returning to the lineup in 2011.

This interview was done in conjunction with a review of their show at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Some of the topics we cover…

- thoughts and reactions to their fourth and latest album, Speak in Code

- comments on Art Alexakis and their recent tour with Everclear

- potentially doing a summer 2014 run on one of the 90′s nostalgia tours

- and much more.

We always try to have some sort of topic skeleton created from which we can pick and choose questions. It’s always refreshing to throw that out the window. Jon was absolutely effortless to interview, and an absolute joy to have on the show. It’s safe to say this also mimics the Eve 6 live experience.

You can stream or download (right click, save as) the interview here.

You all remember TRL. I learned of Eve 6 there when they relentlessly played Here’s To The Night. Those were the days. Carson Daly thriving is what’s wrong with the world. Bring back Ian Robinson.

That’s how I learned of them. My sister would watch trl obsessively and I started to hate this song and bands like Good Charlotte. HATE. This Curtain song is pretty coo tho imo

    What about Jesse Camp?

The video is pretty neat. I heard that song was written about the Gallaghers.

Doesn’t sound like Jon likes Art.

I am a death metal guy. I can’t escape it. I don’t understand it. Eve 6 is a guilty pleasure. Third Eye Blind is too. I wonder if the next Exhumed record will also be bought by fans that have Tripping Daisy on their iPod.

Art was on Stern a few times and was a super cool guest. I didn’t get that this guy didn’t like him from the interview. Don’t make something out of nothing people.

Here’s To The Night annoyed the crap out of me in high school. It was played oer and over and over and over and over. I don’t have fond memories of that time so maybe thats why I’m sour on the song. I never really listened to them but this guy sounds pretty cool. Does anyone know how to spell the name of the band he mentioned towards the end?

Cool interview. I’ll have to check Eve 6 out. I never did. I preferred Semisonic (no joke).

Give me Eve 6 over Blink 182 any day of the week.

I have that Ruth Ruth EP by the way. I couldn’t find it if you begged me but I got it somewhere.

Their track Think Twice always spoke to me in odd ways when I was younger. Those lyrics rang so very true. Max is an underrated songwriter.

Max’s lyrics don’t get the credit they deserve. I didn’t know he was doing a solo album but I can’t wait to hear it. This is a really, really, really good band.
