Usually I’ll write a synopsis of a guest’s appearance on our program. That’s not the case with this particular guest. If you’re a fan of classic punk rock music, you should listen to this interview. If you don’t know The Stooges, if you don’t know Iggy Pop, now is the time to become familiar.
James Williamson and Iggy Pop
Iggy Pop and James Williamson are re-releasing their 1977 classic Kill City on October 19th via Bomp Records. It’s restored, remixed and remastered, and worthy of your hard-earned dollars. It’s come full circle, as by the time of its initial release, Iggy and James went their separate ways. It’s awesome to see these two artists embrace this release, revisit it, and finally appreciate it as a unit.

Actually, Lou is heavily overrated. It’s amazing how much mediocrity he’s put out, and how absurdly infected his ego is; in one really offensive instance, there was a radio interview (I vaguely recall it to be from Sweden, 1973?) where he basically claims he’s more intelligent and talented than anyone else. It’s irrelevant if he was on speed at the time; the point is that he was (still is) full of shit, and this isn’t the only instance. Nor could he ever even simply just sing with a melody–he’s one of the worst “singers” I can think of. However, I am a big Velvet Underground fan. But being a music fan does not mean one has to swallow raw sewage from that musician(s) he or she likes the music of…that’s a huge error frequently made by music geeks who have wacko delusions about their idols.
