On Tuesday, September 14th, 2010, All Knowing Force welcomed Mike Martin, guitarist of “Massachusetts Metallers” All That Remains. I figured I would use the default descriptor, which is why the quotes were used.

All That Remains’ latest album, For We Are Many, will be released on October 12th, 2010 via Prosthetic Records. I ask that all of you consider purchasing a copy of this album and seeing them on this current touring cycle. They’re out now with As I Lay Dying, and then they embark on a headlining tour.
During our conversation Mike Martin stated that he feels Killswitch Engage is the best band to come out of Massachusetts. I completely disagree. The absolute best band to come out of Massachusetts in the last ten years is All That Remains. And yes, that takes into account the saddest man in the world, Aaron Lewis, and his band Staind.
They don’t wear capes on-stage to appeal to first and second graders. They don’t wear shorts stolen from Richard Simmons’ closet. All That Remains evolve with each and every release. They get better and better with time. For We Are Many is just the next chapter in that evolution.
We covered a lot of ground during the interview, including Mike’s feelings on All That Remains opening for As I Lay Dying (which I feel is a travesty), analysis of recent shows, his favorite songs on their last two records, Adam from Killswitch Engage, and much more. I’m not surprised they don’t draw well in Nashville and Boise. Many acts don’t draw well there.
If there were to be a Massachussetts Metal tour it has lost it’s power by now. What is Shadows Fall doing? Did they fall of a cliff? And Killswitch will slowly fade away.

The band changed their sound so much on Ideals that it doesn’t make sense to play the older stuff. I don’t think the older fans give a shit about the first 2 CD’s anyway. Maybe they do, but not enough to justify playing them. They sucked anyway.
I enjoyed the interview and appreciated the props you gave to Oli. Btw, I did see an article on Oli in a guitar magazine once. Was taking a dump at my friend’s house and he kept rock mags in the bathroom. Oli was talking about Hungarian scales in ATR music. So someone gave his his do.

@1942: I don’t know much about the calendar so I’m not at liberty to comment on it. It was posted on Blabbermouth a week or so ago. I wouldn’t purchase it, nor would I hang it on my wall. That’s really the be all end all of it as far as I’m concerned. If it’s your thing, go ahead, buy it, and enjoy 2011. Simple as that.

@Carla: It wasn’t a negative comment about Aaron Lewis or Staind. I was disguising sarcasm. The last Staind album was abysmal. They entered the sessions stating it would be heavier than their last few releases, but ultimately, it wasn’t. I’m all for letting the music take you where you need to be, so no harm no foul. Staind seems to be a band fighting for life while All That Remains is taking them, one step at a time.

I disagree with what Andrew said during the show.
While I don’t believe Chiron should have been the 1st single/released to radio, the album fared better because of it, as it built towards FIYH. I don’t think FIYH would have had as much power if the other 2 didn’t come before it.
I think it’s bs that they don’t play anything from the 1st 2 albums. I can’t believe no one wants to hear that stuff. Tattered, Darkened…all sick. Attention spans are short.
The Phil Labonte Is A Balding Midget person made me fucking crack up. Phil has a sense of humor and doesn’t take himself that seriously. Find me a better metal vocalist that’s relevant TODAY(and dont say Howard Jones).

Wow. this was the worst interview I have ever listened to.
my arguments:
1. the interviewer 1 tries to provoke mike martin to say bad stuff about aild and kse.
2. chiron is one of the best songs of all that remains.
3. the super-duper-fan-since-atr-have-started interviewer no 2 thought this darkened heart was all that remains’ first record.
4. at 15:00 they are trying to verbally s*** mike martins d***. this isnt an interview if the two interviewers talk to each other only.
5. the super-duper-fan-since-atr-have-started interviewer no 2 hasnt seen them play the deepest gray live. i have and i am not a fan since day one as he stated. im not even fromt he us. they did play that before the tfoi release. cool fan since day one that interviewer is.

1. We did not try to provoke Mike Martin to say anything. I, Andrew, was merely voicing my opinion.
2. This is your opinion. You’re entitled to it.
3. I don’t know if Darius made a mistake or not, but if he did, is this really that big of a deal? Come on. I referred to the new album as “For We Are **THE** Many” during the show by accident once or twice.
4. Actually, we weren’t trying to perform any virtual sexual act on Mike Martin. We are fans of his band. We were promoting his band. I believe the only person we performed virtual sex on was Oli, but I might be mistaken.
5. Now you’re really pushing it. I’ve seen Deftones countless times and heard them play Teething and Damone on the same show on three different occasions on three different tours. I know several huge Deftones fans that never heard them play either song.
6. And yes, we did perform virtual sex on Mike Martin, as the All That Remains representative that was on our show, in regards to Overcome. It’s a great album.

All That Remains is a great band, I have all of their albums so far the first two were okay then The Fall of Ideals was Epic! and in my opinion their best album. I do not follow this interview such it is far to much controversy so I just sit back and enjoy the tunes on my ipod.
