Unearth

Unearth is relentless…album after album after album, the aural assault continues. In late June, I spoke to long-time guitarist, Buz McGrath. Not much out of the ordinary here, just your general pre-album release fare. I know, way to promote an interview, huh? If you have some time, check it out.

Darkness in the Light was released today on Metal Blade records. I LOVE IT. As far as I’m concerned, this is the heaviest record of their career. This is truly a heavy metal record. Any “metalcore” linkage has been abolished.

Unearth on 2011’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival w/ Disturbed, Godsmack, Megadeth, Machine Head, In Flames, Trivium, Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish, Straight Line Stitch, Kingdom Of Sorrow, Red Fang – ALL SUMMER LONG!

I’ve followed Unearth since circa 2001. Thank you for covering them. The interview wasn’t that bad. It’s a radio interview. How good do you expect it to be?

I expected more from this CD. I was on the fence but after reading about it here and on AOL I decided to give it a whirl. It was good but felt overall a bit boring.

I didn’t buy the album or anything but listened to tracks when they streamed it on AOL. Like the dude above I found them to be very bland. Not much in the way of evolution from these guys, which is why I feel their lagging behind their local contemporaries.

Unearth never did it for me. They’ve been more consistent then their Mass contemporaries however. Shadows Fall flat out sucks now and ATR is degenerating. KSE’s last album was deplorable.

    Rant over. Time for work.

I bought the CD and it’s nothing new. Same old Unearth. Good if you’re a longtime fan but bad if there trying to acquire new ones.

    I never cared for Unearth.

I don’t see how long they can keep on keeping on for.

Time has passed Unearth by. This type of music is best done by the Gothenburg crowd.
