Interview with Stephen Pearcy of Ratt Archived!

It’s always a pleasure to have the opportunity to promote an artist I’ve listened to my entire life. Stephen Pearcy’s music has been a fixture in my soul for over two decades.

Darius and I were supposed to do this show together, but due to a prior commitment, I had to fly solo. Luckily, this was one of the most effortless interviews ever conducted on All Knowing Force. Darius and I do this, and he still works in this industry, simply because we’re fans and we love music. Therefore, having the opportunity to speak with Stephen was awesome. There aren’t any two ways about it.

We covered a good amount of ground in the 30 minute interview – everything from recent negative comments from Bobby Blotzer, upcoming touring plans for his solo band, his upcoming solo album, selling out Madison Square Garden, and much more. I’d go into more detail, but this is such a smooth interview that you should really take the time to listen to it.

Woohoo! I didn’t know they sold out MSG! You should have asked if they played Lamours!

@Carla: You’re not going to believe this but as soon as the interview ended, I thought the exact same thing!

The main reason I enjoyed this is because I always thought Stephen was an a$$hole. He always seemed pompous and arrogant. I might give this solo band a chance if they roll through NYC.

Did any of you see that Quiet Riot abomination on tour right now? Kevin is probably rolling over in his grave. I would have liked to have known Stephen’s thoughts on that.

This was a good spot. I don’t recall them selling out MSG but don’t doubt it’s true. I’m trying to rack my brain to see why I wouldn’t have been at the show since I was such a huge fan then.

Ratt probably played at Lamours. I’ve seen pretty much everyone at Lamours. Someone should find a link online and post it in the thread.

@Cesar: Frankie is broke. That’s why it’s happening, despite him say NUMEROUS times to the contrary.

What is this show’s fascination with playing MSG? It’s a building. Big deal.

@Cesar: I heard Frankie Banali say on several occasions that Quiet Riot was done. That’s all I’ll say on the matter.

@343: Yes. She made the rounds.

@qwerty80: Ask every athlete that has performed in the building. Ask every artist that has stepped on that stage. You’ve made it when you’re under that roof. They will all tell you the same thing.

I listen to Ratt a lil here and there and read some interview with Pearcy back in the day.

He sounds like a really grounded dude which makes me want to head out and see his solo tour coming up.

    Great spot Andrew.

Someone mention Lamour above but when did Knitting Factory close?!?!

I share the same views with most of the posters above. I can’t single out why I thought Pearcy was a dick and perhaps that viewpoint was unfounded. Looks like it was but I don’t know where it came from.

He was into the appearance on the show and like the poster above me, this makes me want to go out and see his solo show.

You should have asked him about Quiet Riot. I’m curious to know what others think of that debacle.

    A-

I saw Stephen this past February here in Detroit. It was my fourth time seeing him solo, five times if you count RATT this past July. He has always had a solid solo show, mostly of RATT songs. But that only makes sense. He sometimes will do solo songs or even Arcade songs..If I remember correctly he might of actually opened the last solo show I was at with an Arcade tune. All I can say is good things about him because the music and shows I’ve always enjoyed. I was kinda pissed though that the body guard guy at the last show wouldn’t let me meet Stephen though..even though I was on the guest list. I bet if Stephen would have known he would of been more than happy to of signed stuff/taken a pic with me. He comes off as a genuine guy in interviews. Well, there’s always next time.

@DDL: You’re right. Stephen would have been happy to do it. He’s majorly cool.

Andrew has to be one of the most idiotic people in music. He shouldn’t be allowed to interview a pile of turds. When AKF has guests, they interview everyone subjectively. I love how he tries to make Stephen out to be the most important member of Ratt when we all know Bobby is just as important.

@Amber: I have spoken to hundreds upon hundreds of artists over the years and have never once denied that every interview done on our show in subjective.

I am a fan of Ratt and I am a fan of Stephen Pearcy. I have made that clear time and time and time again.

The most important member of Ratt is Stephen Pearcy. This is not a shot to the other members of Ratt. It’s just a fact that in most bands, the lead singer is almost always the most important piece in the puzzle.

We wanted to have Stephen on the show because he’s releasing a new solo album and embarking on an extensive tour. We succeeded in promoting both and I think the archived audio is an enjoyable listen.

I thought the interview was done very well. Andrew always seems to have some pretty cool shows/interviews. I used to co-host with him a ton a few years back. I hope to do so again in the future. He’s also one of my very best friends!

@RnR You mean me being on the show?? If you’ve been listening a while than you probably heard me. I think my last time was in late 2006. I really miss it. I was on for a lot of great interviews including Brock Lindow, Raymond Herrera, David Ellefson.. I also wrote the questions for the Peter Dolving interview.
