All Knowing Force Welcomes Richard Patrick of Filter

Do you want to legally download (yes, legally), Short Bus, Title Of Record, The Amalgamut, and Remixes For The Damned, as well as The Very Best Things (their greatest hits), head over to our free music page and scroll down to Filter. Thank us later.

Richard Patrick (making us soft inside)

Filter headlines the Bowery Ballroom on Saturday, August 21st, 2010. The show is 21+ and at the time of this posting, tickets are available. Avoid Ticketmaster’s excessive fees and pick them up at the Mercury Lounge box office if possible.

We’re promoting their new record, The Trouble With Angels.

The Trouble With Angels is probably the record I should have made after The Amalgamut.” -Richard Patrick

The Trouble With Angels is going back to business as usual, back to the classic Filter sound that everybody’s kind of gotten used to.” -Richard Patrick

NOTE: I don’t care what anyone thinks. I thought Anthems was a solid record. “Soldiers…” and “Cold” are great tracks.

Richard stated that Anthems… is not his favorite, and views the record as “going against his instincts.” Although Richard is proud of the record, he admits it was a challenge for Filter’s audience.

The deluxe edition of The Trouble With Angels has five more mellow tracks, and talks a bit about “Plume,” a song about written from Saddam Hussein’s point of view.

Richard really put over the packaging of the CD and praised Rocket Science.

We talked about the record release show Filter played for Anthems at the Mercury Lounge.

Richard Patrick (will not die)

Richard praises Bono and said he’s one of his heroes from a performance perspective.

We talked about Rob Patterson.

The Trouble With Angels will be Richard Patrick’s fifth Filter album. After multiple listens, I can safely say this is his best work to date. As far as I’m concerned, The Amalgamut was one of the best albums since the turn of the century. The Trouble With Angels is one notch better.

This is the definitive Filter album.

You can download –right click, save as– or stream the 30 minute audio here.

Darius reviews (actually, has a love affair) with the new record here.

You can follow Filter on their official site, MySpace, and Twitter.

    We needed this record.

I heard two of the tracks and saw a live video from Texas.

I am ecstatic and pumped up like a kid on the last day of school.

    THE RETURN OF FILTER!

I didn’t even know they had anything coming out. I thought they were touring on that same bullshit album they put out in 08.

I just wanted to throw this out there.

Filter is playing the Bowery Ballroom on Saturday, August 21st. Get your tickets before they’re gone.

Also, Richard confirmed during our conversation (which will be posted Monday) that a Los Angeles show will be added as well before the end of August.

Filter is one of the most under-respected bands in all of music. If you mention Filter to folks all they remember is Hey Man Nice Shot and Take A Picture. The Amalgamut was a beautiful piece of music and Anthems For The Damned wasn’t half bad. People are losing their minds about the new one and I for one can’t wait to get my hands on it.

I didn’t know they played so many shows in the area when they were touring on the last album. I’m as up on bookings as anyone and didn’t know they did Starland or that venue in Hackensack. That problem Richard mentioned is fairly common as Fountains Of Wayne and Handsome Furs both told me they’d never play there again.

Anything is better than Blender. Once that downward sloped floor gets a little wet it’s like an ice skating rink.

And to the guy about that asked it was when Ozzy was touring on Ozzmosis.

I’m ecstatic to see so many of you going to the show at Bowery Ballroom. As far as the show not being promoted properly, you’re absolutely right. I found out AFTER tickets were already on sale, and I know several people that work there.

We appreciate everyone that took a listen to the show. And yes, a lot of the criticisms are true, we probably would write a good review even if we thought the record was terrible. That’s loyalty. But, this is awesome. It will be worth your $10 or $12.

And by the way, the Highline is best ventilated venue not only in New York City, but in the entire country.

    — that’s not true. i wouldn’t do that. chapter 7 i could never defend for instance. The Trouble With Angels is amazing and i reviewed it as such.

@Andrew: He is talking about the show you mentioned during the show which I was also at. June 15, 1996. My 20th birthday. Ozzy, COC, Filter at Jones Beach on his Retirement Sucks Tour. He was out promoting Ozzmosis but didn’t play a single song from the disc. I went to Filter’s Twitter and jammed to some of the new tracks. Did Richard Patrick get in a time machine? Totally sick.

Yes! I was at the Mercury Lounge show! F’n classic! There were too many industry people there that ruined the show. I remember when Richard spit the water and look mortified at the lack of reaction!

@jack d: The Starland show was free. I believe there was a corporate sponsor.
