I had the pleasure of seeing Motley Crue last night at Madison Square Garden.

This was one of the best shows I’ve been to in years. It was a big show and felt like a big show. They were really enjoying themselves on stage and sent everyone home happy.

It’s commonplace when talking about Crue to make a comment about Vince’s performance. With that, he probably did one out of every five words, or one out of every seven words, if you discount mumbling. I always love seeing him skip in place. Last night, he did it primarily during “Wild Side”. It’s something you’d expect to see in a Richard Simmons video. Crue is not Crue without Vince, and his vocals don’t bother me at all.

At the end of “White Trash Circus”, members of the bands participating in Crue Fest 2 joined Motley on stage to sing the chorus. As I said in a post yesterday, this tour isn’t going to do well. The success of this tour will depend on two things. The first is, without a doubt, Motley playing Dr. Feelgood in its entirety, in addition to all their hits. The second will be Godsmack. There isn’t anyone else on that tour selling tickets.

Crue still has it. I’ve seen them countless times over the years, and hands down, this was their best performance to date.

I left Madison Square Garden last night feeling like I saw something special. And that’s something I haven’t been able to say for a while.

They closed with “Home Sweet Home” and the video below has the full song, as well as Crue leaving the stage.
