Kittie Interview with Morgan Lander Posted

By the way, as I write this, I’m listening to my favorite Cold record,
A Different Kind Of Pain.

Morgan Lander - 2009

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Miss Morgan Lander of Kittie. The link to stream or download the interview, as well as notes on how to get the new Kittie record, as well as some of their others, for FREE, legally, is at the end of this text.

I’ll be honest. I never gave Kittie a shot. After Spit, an
occasional listen here and there. Nothing more. Nothing less. Full disclosure.

In The Black blew me away. “But Andrew, you weren’t expecting
anything.” I didn’t expect anything on the last three releases and I hated them all. But look, In The Black is excellent. The musicianship has improved. Morgan’s vocal patterns have improved. Call it maturity. Call it learning from mistakes. Call it whatever you want. It’s simply an excellent, excellent record. Heavy, with hooks, and great leads.

I urge everyone to put all their preconceived notions aside and take a listen to In The Black. This record isn’t going to break them to the masses, but it’s the record that’s going to make the people like myself, and you, say, “Alright, this band is awesome.” Respect. It’s been ten years. They’ve earned it. They deserve it. They made a believer out of me. Maybe I should say something stupid like, “These Kittie girls have nine lives.” I’ll save that for the pseudo rock writers.

Kittie headlines B.B. King’s on Sunday evening. Soil serves as direct support. Arkaea and Straight Line Stitch open the show. Tickets are $17 in advance, and $20 day of show. Support this band.

Quick Notes

– spoke a little about New York City, NG Records, playing their first
City show at The Continental

– the fact that Kittie has only headlined over the past ten years
(still think this is crazy) and the effects of being unable to get in
front of a different audience

– working with E1 and their commitment to supporting the band, radio
support, shooting two videos in New York in support of In The Black,
appearing on the Saw VI soundtrack

– thoughts on the new record, and why it’s far superior to previous releases

– illegal downloading

– feelings on having to turn down tours with Creed, Marilyn Manson,
Cradle Of Filth, and others

– Blabbermouth

– and obviously, much more.

On our free music page, there are links to download four Kittie albums, legally, for free.

One thing I love about Andrew is his honesty and he is damn right about Arkaea. They are terrible.

Kittie must be given credit. Most of their contemporaries are gone. The Lander sisters have balls of steal and upon the word of the former Mr. Marten, I’m going to buy this record today. I’m not ashamed. Haha!

That was the best. I concur with Dennis. Right out of the gate. I think this is the only show that voices their opinions. My fav was a few years ago when Andrew and James told that guy from Puddle Of Mudd that he looks like Edge and kept playing the beginning of Edge’s theme when he’d talk. Wes was a sport. Why isn’t that interview on AKF?

Has hell frozen over? Andrew – complimenting Kittie? I think it has…

I very much so like Kittie and found it either sad or amazing that they never were a support act. They really need Koch or whoever is handling them to get them on other tours. This is the record that will change the opinion of the masses.

I will be at the show Sunday. \m/

Morgan Lander is a sweet girl. I met her once in Rochester and she was very kind in talking to all of us. I can’t write a bad word about her, and gosh I’m trying!

I just ordered the disc off Amazon. Someone was selling it used without the jewel case for $2.00. Rock on!
