Creed Full Circle Album Review

Creed Full Circle

Creed Full Circle

I first saw Creed in 1997 at Irving Plaza in New York City. I don’t recall who else was on the bill. They were supporting My Own Prison, and if I’m not mistaken, “My Own Prison” was the only song released to radio at that point. My friend and I didn’t have tickets when we left for the show, and I’m unsure why we couldn’t get them at the venue. I think it sold out on the walk-up. Anyway, a DJ from K-Rock ended up giving us two tickets after minimal begging. We were fans, and I think he saw that. I’ll never forget it. Oh, and that K-Rock station now plays Britney Spears and Kanye West. Disgusting.

I’ve always been hot and cold with Creed, and have never been a fan of Scott Stapp’s voice. As you all know, I am a huge supporter of Mark Tremonti. Their biggest hits never really resonated with me, so songs like “With Arms Wide Open” and “One Last Breath” never made it on my iPod. I was more of a “Torn” and “Stand Here With Me” kind of guy. Also, I’ll more or less take Alter Bridge over Creed any day of the week. Myles Kennedy is a tremendous vocalist.

I enjoyed Full Circle. It’s a solid album, and the two singles are the standout tracks. “Overcome” is a heavy number and “Rain” is a great ballad. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the album lacks that big radio single that propelled all their prior releases to multiplatinum status. But, it still makes for a quality album from a band that most people dismiss because they sold a lot of albums. This one might change your mind. If you’re in the market for a solid rock record, check Full Circle out.

Also, and look forward to the new Alter Bridge album coming in 2010.

I also wanted to comment and say that they’re reunion tour this summer should never have been booked in 20,000 seat venues.

I reluctantly listened to this CD not because I’m a Creed basher but because I wasn’t ready for a new Creed LP. The tour and disc happened way too fast. This is their best disc since My Own Prison. I fear that since it doesn’t have the big single as you mentioned that the label will not push it as hard. I hope they don’t look at it as a failure because this is some of their best work.

I agree about Alter Bridge, even though this is a good disc.

Alter Bridge is in a league of their own and the best rock band going today. How’s that for positivity?

Hey Dominic! Please keep me up to date on the new record (as I’ve also requested via private email).

I remember that episode. It was awesome. I haven’t seen it in years. Luckily, it’s on YouTube, and in a future post, I’ll embed the video.

I hope all is well with you in Europe. Your currency is kicking our currency’s butt.
