I stumbled upon Tunelab several years ago after searching for a review of the Another Animal record.  It was terrible, unlistenable, and a disgrace that three members of Godsmack were involved.  Long story short, I saw a review on their site, navigated around a bit, added them to my RSS and thus Tunelab became my provider of non-press release active rock news.  As they strayed from reporting news, I was always intrigued by Jay’s articles, which were mainly geared towards problems in the music industry and possible solutions.  I pretty much agreed with everything he wrote.  And for me, that’s an anomaly.

His heart and mind are definitely in the right place, and if the music industry had more people like Jay Rushing as executives, its future would be much more optimistic.  Head on over there, visit the archives because the guy knows what he’s talking about.  Period.

During the show, we didn’t accomplish a single thing.  If there was an overarching theme, it was how to improve the industry.  If anything, we created more questions and therefore indirectly made very clear, that it can’t be improved.  If you have some free time, take a listen.

Thank you Jay, for creating content that intrigued and inspired me.  I’m sure it will rub off on our listeners as well.

You can listen to the audio by clicking here.  Their official site is located here, and from that link you can navigate to their social media as well. .

The Another Animal record isn’t that bad. There are a number of good songs on there. It’s not perfect, but describing it as “unlistenable” is ridiculous.

    ALL KNOWING FORCE: Darius,

“Unlistenable” is just Andrew exaggerating (what else is new?) but I’ll just say that I bought it, listened to it once, never listened to it again and should have used it as a beverage coaster.

To speak on the show with this Tunelab dude, it was a bunch of dudes talking like this show always is. Went to his site, read his ramblings. The guy makes sense.

I respect your contributions to the show and f*cking love your show reviews, but that sh*t was unlistenable (think we all know what this means, but Firefox says it isn’t a word).

    Sorry dude.

You have a good vibe. Your writing is brilliant. I must agree with all the other listeners that this album was abominable.

Wrong. It was a waste of my $10+. I should have known when I saw that stupid album cover.

That album sucked and I didn’t even make it through 4 songs.

The reason you have not heard of Tunelab is simple.

Jay is passionate, intelligent, articulate, and has ideas that are practical and make sense.

The music industry hates people like that.

I appreciate you visiting our site over the years and being active commenting from time to time, but my comments were not a “low blow.” In fact, I could not have given Jay a bigger compliment. If you’d go back and read what I wrote again, you’d understand it was nothing but praise.

I like the riffs in “Find A Way” and “Blind.” I love “Broken Again” and “Fade Away.” “Left Behind” is ok. I’m just saying that the record isn’t terrible. We’ve been subjected to much worse when it comes to side projects… Ahem… Rockstar Supernova, Methods of Mayhem, anything Tommy Lee does that doesn’t have the words “Motley” and “Crue” in it. Oh and how about Audioslave?!? Anyway, what IS terrible is the artwork. The AA album cover makes my top 20 worst of all time.

The 3 of you should do a live show about more than just the music biz and take calls.

I’m following Tunelab on Twitter now. This Jay guy makes some great points in his articles.

There is one song on the latest Methods of Mayhem record that has potention – “Louder” is the name of the track. If a few of the lyrics were reworked with some minor tweaks, it would be a solid radio single. I also liked a few tracks on both of Tommy’s solo releases.

This Another Animal record is worse than the Methods of Mayhem records. It’s bad, and finally, I’m thrilled to see everyone agreeing with me and not Darius. So please, keep disagreeing.

The album cover is terrible. If you’re going to put an animal on the cover like that, do it like Hum did with You’d Prefer an Astronaut.

The link for the audio is on the site. Try refreshing the page. The site is set to automatically refresh each page with each visit, but it doesn’t happen sometimes when a large audio file is added.

I visit Tunelab every so often most usually when something is linked there. I can’t say I remember many articles other than news.

I know this show didn’t air live, but why is the quality of the live shows better than the archived shows?

Good show. Hope you do more with this guy and get in a groove. I like the show done with Stephen Pearcy because it was lighthearted and informative. The Boba and AHC shows were the same way.

I see one comment was removed here that attacked Andrew. Why was that?

I worked w/ Andrew at AEG for 6 months and found him to be very knowledgeable but not the most friendly person. He would routinely abuse his position, coming into work 4 hours late and then going straight to lunch. Not an example to set for employees.

I’m not even going to justify these ludicrous accusations with a reply.

I can say with certainty that Jay is just as big of a Sevendust fan as we are…
